2023-2024 Schedule & Classes Offered

The Performing Arts Connection proudly offers a variety of dance genres for all different interests. Our classes are created based upon age, experience, dancer ability, and the amount of interest in a particular style.

Class names include:

Jitterbugs - ages 2-3

Young Dancers (YD) - ages 3-5

Tap-Ballet-Jazz (TBJ) - ages 5-8

Minis - ages 8-10

Juniors (JR) - ages 10-13

Teens - ages 13-15

Seniors (SR) - ages 15 and up

Adults (AD) - ages 18 and up

Classes Offered

Dry and Wet Paint

Jitterbugs

Ages 2-3 years old

Preschoolers discover the joy of movement and music in this theme-based class that develops coordination, following directions, feeling rhythms and strengthens growing muscles. Spatial concepts are explored.

Young Dancers

Ages 3-5 years old

Special ½ hour classes in ballet, tap and jazz. Dance disciplines will be introduced and developed while students build coordination, strength and confidence. Students will explore their creative potential and develop a love of movement and music.

 

(Classes are scheduled so that at least two disciplines can be conveniently explored and developed.)

Ballet

TBJ through Adult

Beginning through advanced levels. Students receive Classical Ballet training emphasizing technique, body placement and performance artistry. Lyrical techniques are included in ballet training for experienced/more advanced students. Ballet technique is the basis of and enhances all dance techniques. A great class for all dancers!

Tap

TBJ through Adult

Beginning through advanced levels. Classical tap steps and techniques are taught along with rhythm tap, street tap, syncopation and musical theater stylings.

Jazz

TBJ through Adult

Beginning through advanced levels. Classes emphasize Broadway and modern jazz techniques and performance styles including isolations, turns, leaps and rhythms. The truly American dance discipline!

Hip Hop

Minis through Adult

Beginning through advanced levels. Upbeat contemporary techniques and street styles are introduced and developed including isolations, turns, popping and locking.

Mini/Junior Tech+

Minis & Juniors Only

Weekly classes will vary as dancers explore various dance genres, and focus on increasing flexibility with stretch and strength exercises, improving ballet barre technique with and without the use of therabands, as well as working on turns and leaps and improving core strength. (Open to dancers enrolled in ballet and one other weekly dance discipline.)

Pre-Pointe

Vary by Instructor Discretion

By continuing to focus on ballet technique, pre-pointe is an additional ballet class that allows dancers the opportunity to solidify their fundamentals and grow in confidence before starting pointe work. (Pre-pointe class placement is individual and determined by the instructor.)

Pointe

Vary by Instructor Discretion

Pointe technique is offered to students with sufficient physical development, abilities, strength and training. (Pointe class placement is individual and determined by the instructor).

Musical Theatre

Minis through Adult

Dancers experience a jazz-based class filled with Broadway style dancing and music. Emphasis on performance skills such as connecting with the audience and facial expressions.

Modern

Teens through Adult

Focus on the basics of modern dance such as contract and release, flat back, use of the torso, floor work and expressing emotion through movement. Students will learn movement vocabulary from the Graham technique, learn choreographed pieces and have the opportunity to create through improvisation.

Contemporary

Teens & Seniors Only

Offered to students with training in ballet and/or modern or jazz. Placement is determined by the instructor. Contemporary training is strongly based on ballet technique, incorporating modern and interpretive movements.

Teen/Senior Tech+

Teens & Seniors Only

Weekly classes will vary as dancers explore various dance genres, and focus on increasing flexibility with stretch and strength exercises, improving ballet barre technique with and without the use of therabands, as well as working on turns and leaps and improving core strength. (Open to dancers enrolled in ballet and one other weekly dance discipline.)

Senior Workshop

Seniors Only

Experienced dancers explore a variety of dance genres and have the opportunity to choreograph and teach dance steps and combinations in a collaborative group routine each semester.

Specialty Clinics

PAC offers non-performance-based, specialty classes as our students request and show a desire to explore and develop different performance disciplines or fitness! Whether it is strengthening to build endurance for other classes or learning new ways to move our bodies, these classes are a great way to keep active and grow in the art of dance! Classes will form with sufficient enrollment.
